My name is Tashrima Hossain, and I am humbled to be the International Trustee to the CNH KIWIN’S this year. It is such an honor to be in your service, primarily by ensuring that your voices are heard at the international level. I’m excited to join you all, and I can’t wait to see all the great achievements your district has in store.
Key Club is the peanut butter to my jelly, the Ron to my Hermione, the pink to my Wednesdays. In other words, Key Club has given me so much over the past three years, and I hope to return the favor as International Trustee. My dedication, organization, and passion will ensure that I’ll transcend basic requirements in favor of international-scale improvements.
As Trustee, I have a few basic responsibilities: attending International Board meetings, participating in a maximum of two district visits, and acting as a representative of the International Board. In addition, Governor Daniel and I completed a Governor-Trustee agreement, which identified main expectations; many of said goals revolve around constant communication.
The rest of the International Board and I also work on how the global level of Key Club interacts with different clubs. We take charge of the Key Club Magazine, head our partnerships with March of Dimes, Children’s Miracle Network, and UNICEF, and focus on achieving our 2015 goal to ELIMINATE maternal/neonatal tetanus.
Additionally, I serve on the Growth and Communication Committee. There, we focus on fostering a connection between advisors and Kiwanis clubs, making Key Club a school-wide name, empowering local clubs to publicize their work, creating a strategic growth plan, and creating an annual club census. We already have a very specific set of goals and action steps for the first quarter; I plan to update you all with any progress.
During my term, I intend to stay committed to the goals I campaigned with, “the three C’s of communication, cooperation, and contribution,” but beyond the typical responsibilities of a Trustee, I plan to actively serve as a resource for you all. If you have questions, don’t hesitate to reach out to me. I’m here as a resource, friend, and assistant in any way you may need. Call me, email me, Facebook me— I’m always ready to lend a hand.
Finally, at the end of our terms this year, I hope you all will come join me as we celebrate the 2015 International Convention in the home of Kiwanis International: Indianapolis, Indiana. This convention is an especially significant one. With the 100th anniversary of Kiwanis, it’s important for as many Key Clubbers to be there as possible!
Indy is a beautiful city with tons of great things to offer, such as free museums, bikes to ride around the city, and awesome amusement parks. The convention itself also has a myriad of things to offer. There will be over 12,000 of us— the entire Kiwanis family in one place. We’ll be renting out an entire street of Indianapolis, and we’re even having a concert with Circle K!
So, start fundraising and promoting now. As the year progresses, I will continue to send you all more details and resources to help you all prepare for ICON. I hope to see you all this June in Indianapolis for the 72nd Annual Key Club International Convention!
Thanks for reading, and have a great year, CNH KIWIN’S Key Club District!
