Well, hey guys! My name’s Jean and I’m part of the Goldstone Gators at Glen A. Wilson High School! You’re probably thinking, “Who is she?” or “Have I seen her before?” Maybe you have, maybe you haven’t, but nevertheless, you know I’m here. Why? Because KIWIN’S is one big family and you know that family is always here for you. Well, I’m just one little freshmen girl part of this amazing group I call my family. Although I’ve only been in KIWIN’S for about 3 months, I’ve learned so much. I mean, let’s be real, I had no idea what Fall Rally was two weeks ago. I even thought it was going to be a little boring (don’t kill me!), but I was so wrong. I’ve never been to an event like it, but can you blame me? Having spirit used to be “lame” or “weird” in middle school. Now that it’s over, I’m kind of in a post Fall Rally depression and my experience was just one out of hundreds. The fact that so many people with different backgrounds and lives, gathered in one place with so much love and passion for one thing simply amazed me. It’s crazy how KIWIN’S can bring together so many people! From the morning, I knew that it would be an interesting day. Our cabinet prepared for that day pretty hard. I remember my aching hands from sifting powder to throw and praying that I wouldn’t mess up on the posters for the rally (shown in the picture). Although, we knew that all our hard work would pay off. The moment I got off the bus and stepped onto the dirt ground, I knew that this was something real. I saw so many different divisions, packed with their division color and their spirit sticks high in the sky. I mean I got kind of nervous because our presidents were like, “WE HAVE TO GET THE SPIRIT STICK” and I realized that we were going to have to cheer our butts off to get a chance at winning that stick. Although, we knew it wasn’t about winning or the competition , the content, speeches, and the overall drive to raise money for PTP was the best part of the rally. When people came to talk to us about Pediatric Trauma Program, it really opened my eyes on what KIWIN’S really was about, service and helping others. Obviously, I still have a lot of learn about KIWIN’S, but it really does make me FEEL GOOD when I realize that I’m part of something bigger that will genuinely help people. Another thing I got from fall rally were FRIENDS! I mean the icebreakers were basically forcing us to do so, but it’s also really nice to leave your own division and realize that there are also so many other people who love KIWIN’S as much as you do. Honestly, I really can’t decide what my favorite part of Fall Rally was. The spirit battles where I thought I was going to scream my lungs off or being shoved in penny wars(okay maybe not so much that part), but each part taught me so much. I mean even the icebreakers sort of taught me that I needed to work on my social skills. Although, in all seriousness, Fall Rally taught me and reminded me how much I love KIWIN’S! |
